Music for Settled Work

Music for Settled Work is a threefold piece of ambient music recorded in winter 2022, made in the spirit of Brian Eno’s thinking music. The sounds are apt accompaniment to what Christopher Alexander et al. term settled work:

It is the work which unites all the threads of a person’s life into one activity: the activity becomes a complete and wholehearted extension of the person behind it.

I listen to this music while writing and drawing — maybe you’ll play it while you sew, read, count off yarrow stalks or make a spreadsheet.

Here is the tracklist:

  1. One: replace the memory with a small flat stone
  2. Two: walk away from the revelers into the still night
  3. Three: return to the empty workshop
